ABOUT ISABEL DIAMOND
Hi, I'm Isabel Diamond, a licensed psychotherapist (LMFT) and mental health educator with over a decade of experience. I’m based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and work online with adults throughout California. I specialize in anxiety, work stress, relationship patterns, and healing from family of origin dynamics, including recovery from narcissistic parents, family scapegoating, and family estrangement.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 20 years working in tech, as a software developer, UX designer, and manager. I’ve worked in startups and large companies.
How I approach therapy
My style is active, collaborative, and grounded in the neuroscience of how people actually change. I draw on AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems), approaches that go beyond talking and understanding to create lasting change.
I believe knowledge can be de-shaming. Understanding why you feel and respond the way you do, through the lens of neuroscience and psychology, can shift how you relate to yourself. And I also know that insight alone isn't always enough. Real change tends to happen through new experiences, repeated over time, not just new ideas.
I'll be active and engaged in our sessions, tracking what's happening, noticing patterns as they emerge, and helping you practice something different in the moments that matter. Therapy with me has direction, and I carry a thread from week to week.
Who I work with
I work with adults across a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. Many of my clients are professionals in tech, analytical or creative fields, or running their own businesses. I also work well with people who have a meditation, yoga, or other contemplative practice. I welcome people who are new to therapy, as well as those who've been in therapy before but are ready for something different.
I'm Canadian, have traveled widely, and genuinely appreciate diverse perspectives and life experiences. Having lived and worked across different cultures and professional worlds, I’m comfortable with complexity and with people whose lives don’t fit one simple template.
What I believe
What you're struggling with makes sense, even if it's been hard to see it that way.
You're not someone who needs to be fixed. You're someone whose inner experience deserves to be understood.
Change is possible, even when you can't yet feel it yourself. That belief is grounded in over a decade of witnessing it happen.
